Our approach
We are mothers. And horse lovers. We dreamed of having a horse focused program that values and celebrates the deep connection between kids and horses. Learning to be safe and kind horseback riders, we want your child to be able to experience and enjoy the remarkable bond that can exist between horse and human. The stable is a unique place where your child can be free to explore the natural world and be a valued member of a caring community.
Founders Amelia and Johanna have 20 years of professional coaching, handling, and stable experience. Johanna is a certified Equine Assisted Learning facilitator, Amelia has run a professional riding school in the Southlands area of Vancouver since 2007, in addition she is a an EC Beginner Instructor and an EC Competition Coach.
Southlands Equestrian Village
Conveniently located fifteen minutes from downtown Vancouver, Southlands is situated along the Fraser River and is home to three hundred horses that reside on varying sized private and public farms. Harlow Farm is a boutique equestrian property with an ample sized riding ring and a newly-built barn. Heart Horse Academy is thrilled to call it home.
Heart Horse Programs
HEART HORSE 1
8 Week Course- Spring 2022
Participants meet at the stables once per week for 2 hours, to immerse themselves in everything horses! From understanding equine body language, behaviour and psychology, to the basics of centred riding and horse health care. This program follows Equine Canada Rider Level program guidelines for EC Rider 1 & 2.
Spring Course Options:
Monday 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Saturday 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
